Guidelines For Submission

WRITERS

For the general public, unless otherwise discussed with a member of the NYTW artistic staff,
or requested to send in work, the following should be included:

1) Synopsis
2) Ten-page dialog sample
3) Cover letter
4) Two letters of recommendation
5) Self-addressed stamped envelope if you want your work returned

NYTW accepts all types of submissions, including solo pieces, musicals, full-length and one-act plays. Please be Patient. We receive over 2,500 submissions each year. Turn around time for material sent to our office is about six months or longer. We need this time to give every submission ample review. We read every submission, and after reading a synopsis/sample, may ask to see the entire script. Due to this high volume, we can only respond to the projects that we wish to pursue.

FULL SCRIPTS SHOULD NOT BE SUBMITTED UNLESS REQUESTED.

We recommend that you study our production archives to get a better understanding of the kind of material we produce.

Emailed submissions are our preferred method and should be addressed to litern@NYTW.org. In the subject heading please type, “Synopsis Submission”.

Regular mail submissions should be addressed to:

Literary Office
